Group night August25^th 2011 saw the return of Vines BMW and Bowen Motorcycles who both brought us a variety of different bikes with varying degrees of sportiness. Although the crowd this time was a bit smaller than previous club nights which probably had something to do with it raining however it didn’t dampen enthusiasm.

This great shot was supplied by Pieter and Maureen Halbertsma and shows a packed June meeting. If you don't come to club nights then you are missing a great evening.
Which ever way you look at it its a Fireblade, there are no police markings, the recording equipment is held in the tank bag, the camera (see other picture) is fitted just under the screen, and it looked like the Blue flashing lights are located either side of the screen. Go careful out there.

Both Bowen Moto and Vines Group BMW were kept busy signing up riders for the free ride outs, there were a wide range of bikes available for our members to use and the KAMG sincerely thank both companies for all their hard work in supporting the club.

The June club night meeting proved to be a success with over 100 members attending enjoying perfect weather for a BBQ and ride outs

A day trip to France superbly organised by Ian Burchell saw 22 bikes some with pillions venture into France and down the coast road to Boulogne where we stopped for coffee and croissants. Then it was on to Saint Omer for lunch, riding on spectacular roads and through lovely deserted villages and countryside all in perfect weather.

Saturday the 11 December 17 bikes, one car and 24 folk turned up this morning to ride down to Demelza House near Sittingbourne.

The weather was kind to us and the road surfaces were good even though the roadside was icy. A 40 minute ride saw us at the hospice handing over our gifts and donations to the staff and some of the young residents who came out to see the bikes – many of which were decorated with tinsel. We even had four Santa’s turn up (including a Mrs Santa!).

Many, many thanks to those that came out this morning to show off KAMG in such a good light. I look forward to seeing the pictures in the January Riders.

For those that could not make it (I know the weather stranded some at home) what about an Easter Egg Run!

This fantastic home is staffed by dedicated people that supply respite and end of life care to children from birth to 19 years. The KAMG delivered a wide range of presents and enjoyed a hot drink and mince pie on arrival. We had the privilege of meeting some of the children, parents and staff. and we wish them all a very happy Christmas.

The July club night was very well attended with centre stage being shared by Aye-Gees Suzuki and Vines BMW both had an excellent selection of bikes for our members to ride. There were other side stands featuring Sidcup Motorcycle Tyres, Ultimate Ear Protection, Our Raffle was drawn by a young girl who managed to pick her sisters ticket for first prize bringing the end to a perfect evening at the Kentagon.

These reconnaissance photographs were taken by senior KAMG pathfinder observer team (see above) who during the spring of 2010 and under the command of Brigadier David Parker, Observer, green badge holder & bar, lead his intrepid and brave team into northern France and managed to get them all safely back to blighty.

Many thousands of English holiday makers were stuck in France trying to get out and back to England due to a Volcano erupting in Iceland (No, not the store) and yet without fear of volcanic ash clogging up their engines everyone of the KAMG team, that also included female riders, pushed on into France.

Using what little French they knew coupled with a few euros and the odd tap washer the troops managed to buy Le l'essence sans plomb, food and coffee. But such was their desire to capture some miles they even went as far as Ypres (Leper) and the Menin Gate in occupied Belgium, all in their quest to get a good days riding in.

Once Ypres was breached the Brigadier held back and together with Mrs Parker controlled the transport whilst the troops invaded the city. To mix in with the locals and remain undercover the troops chewed garlic and wore sunglasses so as not to be discovered.

This historic event took place during the daylight hours of a weekend in April (the exact date is still top secret) and was reported in despatches in their much loved magazine Riders. A similar and further sortie to France is in the planning stage .
